Raipur (CG), 4 Dec: On occasion of the 3rd Ascension Anniversary Day of BK Om Prakash, Former Chairperson of Media Wing and Director, Brahma Kumaris Indore Zone, a Media Conference on the theme “The Role of Media in Social Transformation” was organised by the Brahma Kumaris at their Shanti Sarovar Retreat Centre here.
BK Urmila, Associate Editor of Gyanamrit Hindi Monthly Magazine, speaking on the occasion, said that Media has a great influence on the society because their news affects our mind very deeply. Due to that our attitudes are formed and society also gets a direction. Hence now Media is required to provide such news which can awaken Human Values, and only then the transformation in society is possible.
Dr. Mansingh Parmar, Vice Chancellor of Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Tourism, Raipur while paying homage to BK Om Prakash, said that he did commendable service in the field of value-based Media. He said that Society will change only by the re-establishment of Moral Values and these values must be introduced in the field of Education along with Journalism.
Prof. Kamal Dixit, former HOD of Journalism, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalismand Editor, Rajikhushi Magazine, Bhopal said, “As per the present demand of Society, Media is required to reschedule its agenda. Developments which cannot give Peace and Happiness in human life are of no value. In the Society, hopelessness and frustrations are on the rise due to the degradation of Moral Values.” He said, “Today Media contains 80% of Political matter. The rest of the news is influenced by the Economical issues of the market. It is time for the Media to focus on matters relevant to a Common Man.”
BK Kamala, Zone Incharge of Brahma Kumaris centres, Indore Zone welcoming all the Media personnel, said that the Media is an important Unit of the Society. Because of its bold and truthful presentations of the facts, it is respected by the society. So it should be helpful to bring about Social Transformation.
