Mount Abu: The online registration has already started for National Media Conference – 2017 on the theme “Spiritual Wisdom & Raj-yoga for Peace and Happiness – Role of Media” scheduled to be held From 15th to 19th September, 2017 at Brahma Kumaris, Shantivan, Abu Road (Raj.)
Happiness is an offshoot of peace and harmony. We experience happiness in self and society, when we live in peace and harmony with our inner being, fellow beings, innate and outer nature, ecology and environment.
Our outer world is just the reflection of our inner world. If we want to restore order, peace and harmony in external environment, we need to realize the same in our self and relations first. Scriptures aptly encapsulate this as, ‘Yatha Pinde, Tatha Brahmande’ (as in microcosm, so in macrocosm).
It has been rightly said, ‘Be the change, you want to see in the world’. In fact, self-change holds the key to the much needed social change. Bringing such positive changes in self and society from status quo and dogmatism, to dynamism and pragmatism, demands higher vision, values, courage, capacity and creativity which can come with proper cultivation of our ancient spiritual wisdom and Raj-yoga meditation in daily life.
Till date, media in various forms, has remained the most influential instrument of global change. It has shown immense potentiality and possibility of effecting changes in the very thinking, attitudes, choices, beliefs, behaviors, characters, conducts and lifestyles of people, across the globe; sometimes, positively and very often negatively in today’s materialist and consumerist society.
Now is the need to reverse this trend of media, from being frequently negative, narrow and self-centric, to become positive, salutary and society centric. It needs to justify and fortify its basic aim, objectives and functioning in such a way, so as not to disturb or destroy peace, order and harmony in society but to ensure equal opportunity, justice, health, happiness and wellbeing for all.
In order that media acts as an effective change agent for people and society, there is the need for media professionals to develop the progressive attitude and action of infusing in self, the kind of positive changes they want to bring and see in this world.
To delineate on these core issues of interfacing journalism with spiritualism, achieving excellence in media profession and building better life and society on earth, a four-day National Media Conference on ‘Spiritual Wisdom & Raj-yoga for Peace & Happiness-Role of Media’ from 15th to 19th September, 2017 is being organized and hosted by Media Wing of Rajyoga Education & Research Foundation (RERF) and the Brahma Kumaris Organization.
