Agra: An International Dance Day program was celebrated at the Brahma Kumaris “Prabhu Milan” Idgah center, in Agra. The program was attended by Agra’s known poets, journalists, social workers, musicians, stage artists and others.
The Art and Culture Wing of the Brahma Kumaris and the children of Nrithya Jyothi Kathak Kendra who are proficient in various fine arts performed various dances.
On this occasion the Director of Nrithya Jyothi Kathak Kendra addressed the audience, saying that this dance day is celebrated globally by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO. The date April 29th was chosen as it is the birthday of famed reformer French dance artist Jean-Georges Noverre.
BK Ashwina welcomed the guests saying that dance is a culture, it is a worship to the Divine, and it is a part of Indian culture since ancient times. Classical dance brings love and peace in one’s life and helps one to lead a disciplined life. Spiritual Knowledge and Rajayoga practice helps the dancers to excel in their art.
The programme theme was about the desire of the Martyrs and the vision of Golden Bharat. The Senior dance guru Rajendra Raghuvansi was offered tribute on his birth centenary.
Professor Veena Sharma Kulsachiv of Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Sr Reporter Brij Khandelwal, Pandit Keshav Talegaonkar, poetess Sruthi Sinha, Dilip Raghuvansi, BK Gopal, and BK Sriram of the Brahma Kumaris were present in the celebration. BK Amar, BK Raj, and Sister BK Ashu coordinated the programme.
