New Delhi, March 9, 2019: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the recipients of the Nari Shakti Puraskar(Women Power Awards), the highest civilian honour for women and congratulated them for their achievements. He said their work is an inspiration for others and exhorted them to go even further in their respective fields. Referring to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Prime Minister said that its success is attributable in large measure to the fact that women have given importance to it. He added that Swachhta has now become a public movement.
The Prime Minister also touched upon the issues of tackling malnutrition and vaccinations for children through Mission Indradhanush. He said that in both these areas, women have a key role to play in ensuring success.
The awards were given to 44 women and institutions at a special ceremony organised at the Rastrapati Bhawan (President House) on International Women’s Day including Sister BK Shivani of Brahma Kumaris.
Sister Shivani was interviewed on this occasion. She said that it is the woman who is the giver of morals and ideals. Today we know that this world is in the need of transformation. We are looking for people who can transform it. But world transformation is possible only through self transformation. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi being the elder of our National family is looking after the well being and upbringing of the daughters of our nation. We all must give support to his efforts.
Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi was also present on the occasion.
