New Delhi, March 8: H. E. Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India presented the Nari Shakti (Women Power) Awards, the highest civilian honour for women in India, to Rajyogini Brahma Kumari Shivani, Spiritual and Motivational Speaker on the occasion of International Women’s Day – 2019.
The awards were given at a special ceremony organised at the Rastrapati Bhawan (President House) in the presence of Women and Child Development Minister of India, Mrs. Maneka Gandhi.
Sister Shivani of Brahma Kumaris was given this award for her role in transforming human behaviours.
Brahma Kumari Shivani (Sister Shivani) is a Senior Rajyoga Teacher at the Brahma Kumaris since 1995. She is a motivational speaker and has conducted motivational courses, public seminars and television programmes on a range of topics concerning human behaviour. She has transformed millions of lives through her inspiring life-changing talks. Her programmes have helped people overcome emotional stress, depression, addictions, low self-esteem and unhappy relationships.
“All the awardees are a face of change, reflecting the shift in the status of women in the country, from women development to women-led development. I congratulate all of them for their achievements,” Mrs. Gandhi said.
“No field has been left untouched, where women have not left their indelible mark, making women the leading force of our development trajectory. I appreciate the contribution of each one of them and hope that they will continue working for the cause of a better society,” she said.
Forty One individuals and three institutions were given the award by the President on this occasion this year. The awardees have contributed in their unique ways to the society, impacting lives of people and are role models and an inspirations to many others, an official statement said.
The awardees said they were honoured to have been conferred such a prestigious award and vowed to take the cause for which they were awarded forward.

इस अवसर पर केंद्रीय मंत्री मेनका गांधी भी उपस्थित थी। सभी सम्मानित महिलाओं को प्रशस्ति पत्र दिये गये।
नारी शक्ति पुरस्कार:
• नारी शक्ति पुरस्कार भारत का राष्ट्रीय सम्मान की एक श्रृंखला है, जो अपनी असाधारण उपलब्धि के लिए व्यक्तिगत महिलाओं को प्रदान किया जाता है.
• यह पुरस्कार महिलाओं और बाल विकास मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार द्वारा छह श्रेणियों में दिया गया है.
• यह कठिन परिस्थितियों में एक महिला की हिम्मत की भावना को पहचानता है, जिसने अपने निजी या पेशेवर जीवन में साहस की भावना स्थापित की है.
• यह पुरस्कार महिलाओं के सशक्तिकरण और महिलाओं के मुद्दों को बढ़ाने में एक व्यक्ति के अग्रणी योगदान को भी पहचानता है.
• अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस के अवसर पर राष्ट्रपति द्वारा प्रत्येक वर्ष नई दिल्ली में 8 मार्च को पुरस्कार प्रदान किया जाता है. इस पुरस्कार में एक लाख रुपये और एक प्रमाण पत्र दिया जाता है.
• नारी शक्ति पुरस्कार की शुरूआत वर्ष 1999 में हुई थी.
